Let’s break it down for them: Plants make a powder called pollen that you can’t always see. And when people breathe it in, they can feel sick. Histamine, a chemical that’s like a warrior living in your body, pushes the pollen out. That’s why you sneeze, get itchy, watery eyes, or have a runny nose.
You can’t get rid of your child’s indoor or outdoor allergies, but you can decrease the severity of their symptoms. Here are a few tips to get you started.
• Use plastic covers on pillows and mattresses to help repel dust.
• Wash bedding in hot water every 7 to 14 days.
• Remove stuffed animals from kids’ beds.
• Keep air ducts clean to reduce dust.
• And, of course, use Children’s Allegra!
